New ClearView Version with HDRMAX
April 15, 2024 – Announcing the new ClearView 9.6 with HDRMAX for NAB 2024.
HDRMAX is an HDR quality metric applied individually to both VMAF and MS-SSIM to extend their feature sets in the new 9.6 version of the ClearView® Video Quality Analyzer.
The HDRMAX metric extensions provide highly accurate video quality assessments (VQA) for 10-bit HDR and all SDR formats to assess quality. HDRMAX applies a high correlation to human subjective video quality assessment data created from HDR content similarly to how the original VMAF and MS-SSIM metrics correlate to SDR video.
By isolating the extreme ends of the dynamic range at the expense of the middle range using the HDRMAX nonlinearity function, highly evident visual distortions are emphasized and accounted for versus standard VQA models which create dominant responses for brightness and colors in the middle portion of the dynamic range. The HDRMAX nonlinearity function is one of several ways it provides a modified feature response to directly capture perceptual quality information more sensitive to bit-depth for HDR video while simultaneously outperforming the original SDR VQA models to which it is applied.
ClearView 9.6 minor feature additions:
-Full signal detection HDMI or SDI inputs including bit depth, color space, and HDR transfer function.
-Input Signal detection now supports VPIDs for SDI inputs and HDMI Aux data for HDMI inputs.
-Added frame numbers showing which frames have the highest and lowest metric scores.
-Added field mode support for PSNR to black measurement.
Additions included in multiple product applications:
-aFreq Metric added Median and Standard Deviation (ClearView and RTM).
-IP-2110 changes for all apps: 2 x 8 channel audio mode, keep alive option, SDP import for video input configuration.
-NMOS status function (Venue Recorder only).
-Venue Player can select which player uses the HDMI output port on Quad 3G-SDI and Quad 12-SDI interfaces.
-RTM added native scale MS-SSIM graphing.
-RTM lip sync error recording now continues while audio offset is out of range.
